Special Investigations Associate at Coinbase — Remote LATAM

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

Handle high-risk escalations to discover findings beyond initial flags;

Conduct proactive research, including ad hoc due diligence;

Study threat actors, their environments and modus operandi;

Remain current with industry developments including blockchain trends, network protocols, threat actor landscape, and applicable regulation;

Feedback loop research findings to improve investigative tools and compliance controls;

Respond to assistance requests from fellow Investigators;

Handle highly sensitive cases with respective urgency and discretion;

Master evolving investigative tools for blockchain analytics, social media platforms with emphasis on identity research, data extraction and analysis;

Create new investigative techniques and teach them to the Investigations team;

Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

A well-organized self-starter who is able to constantly learn and work autonomously;

Ability to handle highly sensitive information;

Excellent writing, analytical and communication prowess;

Strong understanding of Latin American financial systems and money laundering typologies;

Working knowledge of financial services regulations concerning money laundering and sanctions;

OSINT expertise and investigative mindset (Latam-focused expertise is a big plus);

Deep knowledge of social media platforms, corporate diligence sources and other tools for identity research;

Knowledge of blockchains and various network protocols;

Nice to haves:

SQL knowledge;

Data analysis;

B.A./B.S. degree or higher;

Python and other programming languages are advantageous;

Competence with LibreChat, ClaudeCode or other AI-based tooling.

Experience from a cryptocurrency industry is a plus.

Portuguese fluency or working knowledge
