The Markets Derivatives team is responsible for developing and managing the core systems powering both Coinbase’s US Derivatives and International Exchanges, including Matching Engines, Order Management System, FIX, REST, and Market Data gateways as well as diverse set of products and services for a wide range of customer segments. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join a talented and growing engineering team that tackles some of the most demanding scale and performance challenges across the company as they deliver on an ambitious product roadmap designed to establish Coinbase as the leading and most trusted crypto platform globally.

What you'll be doing:

Build and enhance services to meet critical product and business needs using Java, Golang and RDS Postgres.

Design scalable high volume and low-latency systems to solve novel problems with modern cloud technology and industry best practices.

Work with other engineers, designers and product managers to turn our product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.

Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.

Maintain production services and Database infrastructure

What we look for in you:

You have at least 5 years of experience in software engineering.

You’ve designed, built, scaled and maintained critical low-latency production services, and know how to compose a service oriented architecture.

You’ve good awareness of at least one of the major SQL or No-SQL databases - Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB; and interest in optimizing and maintaining them

You’re passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together.

Nice to haves:

Domain experience with crypto, derivatives or other financial products

You know what high quality code looks like and know how to foster an environment that maintains a high quality bar

Execution focused with an ability to navigate ambiguity

Experience architecting complex distributed systems at scale

You have built trading systems or matching engines that have high volume and low latency characteristics

You have gone through a rapid growth in your company (from startup to mid-size).

You’ve worked with Java, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka and Postgres.

You’ve built Ad-Tech, financial and or, SaaS systems.
